At Dr. Donald Massey School, we are pleased to offer all of our students the full complement of core classes as outlined by the Alberta Provincial Curriculum.  Students work in an inclusive setting, utilizing the latest resources and technology.  Our excellent staff are committed to adapting curriculum to meet the needs of students who may be challenged by the regular curriculum, or who find regular academic work relatively easy.  For more information about the Alberta Curriculum please visit the Alberta Education Website.

Junior High Options for 2019-2020

All junior high schools are required to offer the Career and Technology Foundations (CTF) Program of Studies starting in the 2019-2020 school year.  The CTF curriculum is a competency-focused curriculum that introduces students to the Career and Technology Studies (CTS) occupational areas through engaging learning experiences.

This new program of study will impact how we offer our optional courses such as Foods, Construction, Visual and Media Communication, etc.  Within the CTF cluster-based courses, students will complete learning outcomes within the curriculum and explore at least 2 different occupational areas.  For example, Foods might be linked to occupations in Human Services and Business – i.e. being a nutritionist, or a cook, or starting a business (restaurant).  The learning will be project and inquiry based.

Currently, we are exploring various implementation models for the CTF structure next year.
Updated information for all option courses will be available by mid-May.
